How manually do the backup of a Nokia N97

Nokia offers its users a lot of methods for backing up and restoring data from its terminals, from computers and from the phone itself, but unfortunately none of these methods is really working or 100% satisfactory then after formatting we will always lose something, and so we will always do the work already done in the past.

The best thing to do to have a proper backup is to manually save the files used by our terminal, logically to do this we must have the hack on our phone to access all its files, or we will have to install a custom firmware.

Here we can se what these files are:

  • Messagges:

c:\private\1000484b\Mail2

  • Calendar:

c:\private\10003a5b\calendar

to save this file we have to kill the process: Agsvexe.exe

  • Notes:

c:\private\100012a5\DBS_101F8878_Notepad.dat

  • Log:

c:\private\101f401d\logdbu.dat

to save this file we have to kill the process: LogServ.exe

  • Contacts:

c:\private\10003a73\contacts.cdb

  • Alarms:

c:\private\101f5027\AlarmServer.ini

  • Alarm settings

c:\Private\10202be9\persists\101f874d.cre

  • Browser's bookmarks

c:\Private\100012a5\DBS_101FD685_BrowserBookmarks.db

to save this file we have to kill the process: FavouritesSrv.exe

  • Cookies:

c:\private\101f8530\cookies.dat

  • Internet: access points

c:\private\10202be9\persists\cccccc00.cre

  • Bluetooth name:

c:\private\10202be9\persists\10204dac.cre

to save this file we have to kill the process: btmanserver.exe

  • Paired bluetooth devices:

c:\private\100012a5\DBS_100069CC_btregistry

to save this file we have to kill the process: btmanserver.exe

  • Profiles:

c:\private\10202be9\persists\101f8798.cre

  • Display settings:

c:\private\10202be9\persists\10275104.cre

  • Home shortcuts:

c:\Private\10202be9\persists\20012474.cre

  • Locking-Unlocking settings:

c:\Private\10202be9\persists\101F877A.cre

  • Menu settings:

c:\private\200113dd\content\Matrixmenudata.xml

  • T9 words:

c:\predic\2000BEFB_1S.dat > e:\data\backup\2000BEFB_1S.dat

c:\predic\2000BEFB_F.dat > e:\data\backup\2000BEFB_F.dat

So we just save and restore these files to never lose anything, the only problem is that to make this work is tiring even if necessary, but you could install the Mentor's firmware which has implemented a backup system that saves all these files at every boot and has also implemented a system restore to restore all these files after formatting.
